Our Cine to Video service is done by experts. They clean (and resplice where necessary) cine films before transferring them to a media of your choice. It's done in real time and checked at every stage. Yes, it may cost more then others but it is a better service. Some of the cheaper services project the film onto a sheet and refilm it. Some places do it speeded up and then digitally slow it. Our experts do none of this.
Video film is checked for speed issues and other faults before transfer. Occasionally the content may not be what you were expecting (someone has taped a TV programme over a wedding video !) - if this is suspected we will contact you to check before any work is done.
You get the best possible version of your cine or video on the media of your choice. Conversion to DVD used to be the standard and is still popular but conversion onto a USB is now very popular. The advantage of USB is its portability - you can play it on any computer anywhere and many TVs accept USB drives now as well. We can also send you the digital file of you film by WeTransfer.
Audio tape - either reel to reel (living rarity) or cassette - or vinyl records can be transferred to media of your choice. 20% discount for anyone who gets the reference above.
Yes, there's a charge for editing your original onto whatever output you choose. You can say you want the first five minute and then the ten minutes from 20 minutes in (or a counter number).
We can give an estimate of the price before you go ahead.
Yes, there's nothing to prevent you editing the DVD or copying it once you have it.
Difficult to be exact until the tapes or cine are checked for used length but here's a guide.
Video tape : 1hour - £45, 2hrs £60, 4hrs £88 £7 charge every time a tape is changed.
This means if you have three tapes with 20mins on each the price is £45 plus two tape changes at £7 each = £59
Cine film : bit more complicated. Reels are digitised then combined and written to DVD or USB so there is a price per reel and then a price for the DVD time length.
50ft reels (about 3 minutes) - from £35 (one reel) to £11 each for six or more reels.
200ft reels (12 mins) - from £50 for a single reel to £26 each for six or more
400ft reels (24 mins) - from £59 to £37
All sizes count in the reel quantity so if you have two 50ft reels, three 200ft and two 400ft then the six or more price is used.
Having digitised the reels they can then be written to a DVD or similar.
1000ft of film is one hour so add the price for a one hour DVD (as in Video tape above).
It's usually easier to bring it all in and we'll give you an estimate.
If there's only 200ft used on a 400ft reel you're only charged for the 200ft - but that's not apparent until the transfer is done so anything we say is just an estimate.
Audio tape : £40 for 30 mins or part thereof.
Vinyl records : £45 for 30 mins or part thereof.
There are some other charges for damaged Video Tape cases, size switching, music, editing all can be discussed better in the shop.
While almost all formats of cine and video tape can be transferred by our usual experts, we need to use another expert for Betamax so these prices do not apply to Betamax.
